Hmmm... notice the white walls? Very nice.
Have I mentioned I really like orange?
I also like green.
Have I also mentioned that our budget will basically cover the paint and paint only? So to keep budget savvy ideas on your radar... check out this video on just that subject.
I like to think outside the box and this is definitely a kitchen makeover that does: I especially liked the wallpapering of one feature wall, (but please don't tell The Agronomist, because as far as he is concerned, wallpaper has been vetoed at Bungalow'56) Something about scraping and gluing and nightmares, yada, yada, yada.
By the way this is a great site, and I would highly recommend you grab a coffee, or tea and browse around. I particularly like the blog which chronicles a classy basement renovation.
The rest of the house tour can be seen here.
Yet my counters are a grey and this does look very calm, minus the stuffed deer head, of course (he's a little too calm for my taste.)
I enjoy my deer running outside, preferably alive, down my street. If you don't believe me, you can witness it for yourself here.
That's enough for now, I am starting to feel anxious about making decisions, and I haven't even looked at the possibility of orange or green yet.
I have a lot to think and dream about.
While I stare at the bottom half of the above picture I want to wish you a wonderful day. Be sure to eat an orange or an apple. I want all my readers to be healthy, so that you can be around for a very, very, very long time. I have a feeling the paint selection might be a arduous process that may take another ten a few years.
Plus, I would be lonely here in blogland without you.
I'm feeling a little sentimental.
Stuffed animals do that to me.

I love checking out design ideas. It's always so interesting to see what people create, even the deer head above the dinning table.
ReplyDeleteSeems like you're drawn to the more neutral color schemes. Maybe do the main parts of the kitchen in neutral colors and bring in color (orange and green) with accessories.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely leaning in that direction. White for around the kitchen cabinets and then maybe a feature wall opposite the dining room window. It's the love seat's tan/cork color that's tripping me up. It's tone is so earthy I don't know how to work it into a new brighter crisper color palette.

That was fun! Thanks for all of the links.
ReplyDeleteJust for the record...my dining room is orange and I love it. It's called Jalapeno, by Sherwin-Williams. In my house before this one, my family room was green...as in Michigan State Spartans green. That was a bit much...
The links were a blast, thanks! I agree with Tara, you'll probably be happier pullin' in the pop colors with accessories since you lean toward neutral colors.
ReplyDeleteYa'll have a greatly blessed day!!!
Wanted to tell you to check out www.remodelista.com under the 'get inspired' subtitle. You'll find 'steal this look' there. There's some really good ideas, and they tell you where you can actually buy the same or similar things you see in the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI like bright colors in the wall it gives light to the whole room. I like the color yellowish and orange too, it feels fresh. Oh well, all that really matters is the maintenance of cleanliness of the kitchen. Thanks for the links too ;)
