We Don't Need A Winter Holiday...

I can't believe it when I look at these pictures.

We have been so fortunate to be able to travel to some warmer climates over the past few years.  It almost seems like a dream now.

You must be wondering,"How can they do it?  She writes about how frugal she is? Ha! She sure didn't give up lying for Lent now did she?  Talk about misrepresentation!"

But if you would allow me to explain I would tell you that...

After several years of scrupulously saving Aeroplan miles, along with grandparents who graciously share their condo timeshare with us, Bungalow'56 has had the opportunity for two amazing winter vacations.

This time last year, we were here:
Paradise Island, Bahamas

The year before that we were here:
Maui, Hawaii

This year we are here:

We do not have a winter holiday planned.  We just have ... winter.

My sister and her family enjoyed the Condo with my parents this year, and they had a wonderful time in Hawaii.

As for us, we are staying home, and the girls seem to be making the best of it.

It's been a relatively balmy winter and they have been playing in the snow whenever the sun is out.

The girls look forward to when the snow is perfect for building snowmen.

I mean, who really needs winter vacations?

Who needs sun, sand, and surf?

Who needs drinks by the pool?

...  flipflops in February?

...  palm trees swaying in the breeze?

...  a healthy glow from the sun on their skin?

...  someone to cook for them for two weeks?

Sorry, I  got a little carried away ... where was I?
 Oh yes...

We are having a great time here at home!

In fact on days like this I don't think the girls even remember those trips.

Honestly, I really don't think they have even noticed nor missed the winter vacation.

... not that they've mentioned to us anyway?

  1. Hahaha, I love it! I have times where it's kind of hard to believe a year ago, I was just settling into my life on Oahu. It helps to look back at photos though, and to remember the fun. I love the hula snowman. That is priceless!

  5. So, apparently, like us in Minnesota, you've had a long winter in Canada too.

My oldest daughter was vacationing in Florida last week and complaining that the temps were too cold for sunning on the beach?

What was "too cold?" I asked.

    "Sixty degrees," she replied.

I felt not one bit sorry for her as I threw on my winter coat and stepped outdoors to shovel more SNOW in temps that were in the 20s!
