Slow And Steady Wins The Race?

Have you ever fallen so far behind that you wonder if you'll ever be able to catch up?

I think I'm in that race.  You know the one.  It's called life.

I am the poor runner, or more my speed, the slightly unstable race walker, who has been lapped by the other participants.

And unfortunately for me it's not a short race.  It's the 3 hundred thousand billion metre race.

Something about a marathon, I wasn't really listening.  I was too excited about the free water bottle.

The problem, is that with every lap I seem to be falling further and further behind, until no one is sure if I'm last or in the lead.

Today I am going to pick up my pace and see if I can at least catch a glimpse of the finish line.

I'll be wearing the bright yellow lycra unitard.

It's my lucky color.

Honk if you see me.  I'll also have on my sensible shoes.

Just a thought... do you think if I lost the grocery cart, I'd have a better chance?

While I pin on my race number today, the question I keep asking myself is... Should I believe in the tortoise?

Will slow and steady really win the race?

  3. Oh girl... I am the hamster in the wheel running and running and running. Where am I going? No where. But I think my leotard is hot pink and I am sporting leg warmers and a sweat band!

  4. This week has seemed like my race just doubled in length and I stopped running and started crawling! I'm thinking that each day is going to get a little better though; back in the swing of busy-busy summer life. Hang in there, we're all in this together!

  5. Stick to it!

Though I have to admit, I'm somewhat disappointed there's no photo of you in a unitard.

    Sigh, maybe next post.

  8. I hope slow and steady wins the race, but come to think of it, May is one of those months where I feel like I need to go a million miles an hour to keep up. So much end of school-year stuff going on. But long term, I'm definitely all for slow and steady.

  9. Am I the only one requesting photographic evidence of said yellow unitard?
    Hm?

  10. Slow and steady not only wins the race, but doesn't miss a sight or sound or wonder along the way.

Now, THAT'S the only way to do a race.

  11. I think I got into this race by accident. I thought everyone was just lining up for the bathroom. And I don't have any cool race gear at all.

but seriously, I was having similar tragical thoughts earlier today. Or was it two minutes ago? Who knows. We'll get there eventually.

  12. you are so funny! this reminded me of many years ago when I did triathlons. i was a great swimmer & one of the first out of the water. then came the humiliation of the biking~everyone passed me (unless they drowned on the swim part). i love your analogy!

my kids have asked every day this week if i have gone to the store & i say "no. but i m sure you can find something!!" i am behind as well Dana, but more importantly I am happy! wanna know why? because i blog! my hubby even commented last night! yep, it is shining thru. trust me there is more to life than being the fastest runner, which i am sure you have already figured out!
