We had a wonderful weekend celebrating and visiting with family friends we hadn't seen all summer.
I can't believe the little girl we met in grade one, now has fifteen candles on her cake.
It was chocolate cake.
Strawberries were involved.
If you read this blog regularly you know how I feel about chocolate and strawberries.
It was a very good day.

We were waiting, wondering...

And nope, no boyfriends.
It's official.
This is a very accurate way of finding out what's really going on in your teenagers life.
I walk up to my eldest all the time, ask her a question, and then get her to blow out a match.
I know.
I'm highly scientific.
That's why The Agronomist married me.

Did I mention there was chocolate and strawberries....PLUS Orea cookie ice cream.
It was a doubly delicious good day.
Our friendship is not just based on their ability to create these delectable desserts.
The company was excellent too.

I tried my hand at family photography.
Um? Let's just say I have a little work to do.

It's been ten years since our daughters were in grade one together.
They had an amazing teacher.
It made it easier to send them.

In another ten years,we will likely attend graduations together and maybe even weddings.
But that will have to wait.

There will have to be many more candles blown out before that day comes.
Many, many
... many.

The way the last fifteen years have flown by though, I know it will come all too soon.
They are all growing up waaaay too fast.

And far too beautiful for my liking.
But I don't think there's a darn thing I can do to stop it.

Happy Birthday K!
Thanks for sharing your day with us.

I will be joining Emily at Chatting at the Sky for Tuesdays Unwrapped and

Sweet Shot Day Pin It

  1. Looks like a wonderful time! May K have a wonderful year ahead of her.

And I agree that your method on finding out if someone is dating is highly scientific. It's the once I use & teach my students ;)

  2. What beautiful shots, well you know, except for the family shot, which sent me into gales of laughter.

  3. Remember when the early teens were your awkward stage? Or was that just me? These girls are so gorgeous and composed. I think I was what is now referred to as a "hot mess"

  4. I am totally wanting that cake for breakfast now.

And there is NO chocolate cake in any reasonable distance to me.

    How unkind of you.

  5. Isn't she lovely? And she still seems so nice. At 15. My kids were deep into obnoxious, rebellion right about then!

    That frosting looks delicious!

Happy Birthday to a lovely, non-obnoxious, non-rebellious teenager!

  6. note to self - pick up some matches sometime in the next 7 years ...... I am assuming my only source of fire at this time - the barbeque lighter - wouldn't work quite the same?

  7. Goodness that cake looks good!!
    Enjoy the day

  8. Yes, they grow up way too quickly. We celebrated my niece's 12th birthday this past weekend and I, too, wondered where the years have gone. And, nope she didn't have any boyfriends either, according to the candles blown out on her cake.

I should try that match trick with my 16-year-old son. Thanks for the suggestion.

  9. I love that match trick!!

Totally doing it for my boys works with boys, right? I mean,it's universal like that, right? right?

  10. What a wonderful day!!! Beautiful photos to capture it all! And that cake....MMMMMMMMMM!

  11. Loved the photos. You have such a great eye. Except for that family shot. May have to take your photographer's card away for that one.

  12. Great shots Dana!

That cake looked INCREDIBLE. I could almost taste it. Oh my...

    Blessings to you my friend♥

  13. I love the family shot, actually I love all of these and I don't especially like that I have no chocolate cake either :( FedEx is your friend you know...just saying

  14. Hi Dana
Had to catch up on your blogs...great reading...
beautiful pictures.... those (little) girls are definitely growing up. Looks like a great holiday in Quebec. All your aunties are regular followers
of your blogs and think you are very talented and
an absolutely great mom to those beautiful girls.
Let's not forget the agronomist he's patient and
handsome and taking after his father in law.

  15. As always - funny stuff. I love the way you write. And I can't agree more about the chocolate. Your last shot is stunning. What a pretty young lady.

  16. I'm new =) Just visiting from Chatting@thesky. I should not have clicked on your link. I'm pregnant. That cake looks amazing. I'm pretty sure I'll be dreaming about it tonight. And tomorrow morning. And...I've never made a good cake. Will you email me the recipe?? I'm always up for a challenge. (I'm just craving that cake now!) And you take beautiful pics.

  17. She is beautiful. And what a fun looking family. Now I need to have a word with you....I am on a no chocolate and strawberry diet myself and you are not making it easy with all those delicious pictures taunting me....Be strong, Stef, be strong.
