The 12 Days Of Christmas: Finding My Joy!

When I think of Christmases past?
There is one thing I am certain of.

I love Christmas.

I do.

But I have a  confession to make.

I'm failing Christmas.

I am...

I'm lucky if I squeak out a C-.

You see....
I haven't finished decorating.
My Christmas cards have not been sent.
And I still have gifts to buy.

I am focusing on all the to do's.
And Christmas is passing me by.

I want it to be picture perfect.
But I am afraid the picture is so out of focus,
I can't see the forest for the (Christmas) trees.

So for the next
"12 days of Christmas"
I am going to
share with you
one thing a day
that will help me to focus on the real JOY of Christmas.

At this time I have no idea what the "one thing a day" will be.
So make sure to drop by and see what has inspired me to post.
I am hoping once I start really looking.

I will find the Christmas I have lost.

And in turn (over the next 12 days)
share its magic with you.
xoxo

If you would like to join me on my quest I will add a linky on Thursday in hopes that you too may inspire all of us here at Bungalow'56 to start looking for the little things... really it could be anything.... that gives you JOY at Christmas.

  3. The thing I've noticed is that Christmases come around much faster now that I am older and so it's not surprising that we don't get things done. I still owe Christmas cards from a decade ago I'm ashamed to say,

  7. I am so excited! What an awesome idea! also, I love your honesty about what isn't done yet! sometimes I feel like the only one who hasn't accomplished it all~but I guess real life (homework with the kiddos, swim meets & other commitments) has a way of interfering! we have a snow day so the kiddos are off school today...which means I am going to employ them to get some things done!! hugs, Cathy (I can't wait to see how this turns out & I will be sure to link up!)

  10. The one place I always slack is the baking. There is no part of me that wants to bake Christmas cookies.

  11. What a great idea, Dana! I'm trying to simplify this year so that I find the joy and not just the busyness. Can't wait to see what you post!

  12. Oh, can't wait!

I have lots of joy, but...it's a slippery thing joy. I can be joyful one minute and freaking the heck out the next.

Maybe this will help me hang onto it a little bit better.

  13. What a wonderful idea.

Boy, no wonder you are such an easy person to love.

My kids bring me joy. I do everything for them. All the decorating, cookie baking, gift shopping, house dusting: for them.

Solidly, for my 3 babies of the world.

  16. Love this, I haven't gotten into my Christmas spirit yet either-I don't know what's wrong with me! (I've been feeling like a real scrooge.)But I still have presents to buy/make- cards to send out and I'm lacking the will. Starting today I'm going to try to push myself into it with some of my homemade gift ideas. Good luck finding yours(wish me luck too!)
