For those of you who follow my Bungalow'56 Facebook page.
You may have noticed my profile update yesterday...
Getting ready for my first ever newborn photo shoot. Eeeep!
I was nervous.
I had no idea what to expect.
Thank you to all of you who left words of encouragement.
It meant a lot.
Sometimes I wonder why it is so hard to follow your passion?
I'm good at coming up with excuses.
But no more.
The girls had come across this post by Ashley Ann from Under The Sycamore.
It gave me a few ideas, and we had every comforter, pillow and blanket we owned out.
I've always known this to be true...
the best way to learn anything is just by jumping in and doing it.
So yesterday I jumped.
And thankfully the little mister and his mom were very patient and gracious,
as I tried to figure out poses and lighting.
Who would have thought a newborn would have so many of his own ideas
about how he wanted to pose...
A hand here, a squished face there,
and I would like my soother now please,
because if I don't get it, I'll shut this photo shoot down without a second thought.
He was in control. No doubt about it.
In the end I learned so much.
A gazillion times more than any tutorial or book could have taught me.
Just "going for it" is like a master's class in photography.
Mom and the little mister were wonderful.
I am so thankful they let me take their pictures.
I will show you a few more of the shots once I've finished editing them.
But for now I'll leave you with little mister's itty bitty toes,
xoxo,

I posted about fear today and literally jumping in! Love the baby toes.
ReplyDeleteAtta girl! Sometimes it's the best way ... love the photo and I look forward to the ones you post! They'll be great!
ReplyDeleteDana,
ReplyDeletePushing ourselves even when we are scared. . .it's so hard, and yet so worth it, and if the tiny toes are from the photo shoot, I'm pretty sure you rocked it out.
Also, I LOVE the post below, and the sidewalk chalk drawings. I'm always happier when we have a driveway full of drawings.
Can't wait to see more of the shoot! Looks great so far...
ReplyDelete=)
Look at those cute little toes!!! Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait!! I think babies are the most fun.

ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for you to post news of a shoot. Saw all those photography pose pins lately! I'm in the same boat (etsy, not photography) and know I need to just jump in. Way to go! Love the toes and can't wait to see more - you take beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! It is great to jump into something! Thanks for sharing! Now I want to go nibble on my daughter's toes! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Dana...it is gorgeous! I do not flatter so believe me when I say...it is gorgeous! Love the composition and I think my favorite part is the turquoise coloring with the blanket and flesh. You rock! I'm still a chicken. Gonna have to find me a newborn now. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! Can't wait to see the rest..
ReplyDeleteGood for you! That's a very good photo. You made me laugh when I thought about the little one shutting down the shoot if he didn't get his soother. Very true, and funny!

ReplyDeleteHi Dana! My name is Kathryn and I want to be a photographer when I grow up! This shot is beautiful and I totally understand how you feel. Doing photography is my passion also and I am wanting to go for it, but just afraid to put myself out there. I do shoots for my friends, but haven't gone farther. I am about to go for it, but eeeeeeekkkkkk.... This picture is beautiful! I hope to see more!
