I have been away from the keyboard.
I didn't realize The Rockies would create this divide between myself and my computer.
I would be exaggerating if I said I was completely wireless.
The connection was very weak and really slow, and... well... I was busy.
Lake Beauvert |
Busy hiking, and biking, swimming, boating, horse back riding and canoeing.
And best of all?
Spending time with family.
We have been away this past week enjoying a holiday with The Agronomist's clan.
We left no stone unturned, no bike unpedaled, no hike unwalked, and no paddle undipped.
Five star meal provided nightly by a different Agronomist Clan couple. |
And no meal uneaten.
Did you know The Agronomist comes from a long line of foodies?
Oh yes, this was a holiday like no other.
Maligne Canyon hike |
But don't you worry.
With our daily mountain hikes we worked off e.v.e.r.y. last morsel.
The kids had a blast playing with eachother.
Twice daily games of cops and robbers with uncles who seemed to have unending energy, the likes of which, I have never known, were probably something our youngest will never forget.
We made up a group of 12 adults and 12 kids.
The docks of Jasper Park Lodge |
The beauty of the water was amazing.
Although I decided to draw the line at swimming.
The kids couldn't wait to wade in.
The mountain water, while beautiful and enticing, is f.r.e.e.z.i.n.g. cold.
So instead of jumping in we decided to glide across it.
Canoe rented from Jasper Park Lodge |
Can you believe we found a canoe built for fourteen?
I was an integral part of the team.
While they paddled, I photographed them paddling.
I felt it was a wonderful, symbiotic relationship.
Thankfully my sister-in-law is a strong paddler.
I decided the only way I coud reimburse her for picking up my slack,
would be by taking as many pictures of her as possible while we were on the canoe.
But, for some reason, she didn't seem too thrilled with my generousity?
Becker Chalets (feeding grounds for many Elk) |
Thankfully the wildlife were not nearly as camera shy,
and showed up for their own photo shoot on a daily basis.
This is not the end my friends.
It was a perfect family holiday
There is more of Jasper to come.
xoxo,
Oh my friend, I have missed you. It looks like an amazing vacation. xoxo
