Where Was The Defibrillator?

I got this sweet shot of my eldest on New Year's Eve.
We were invited to a farm just outside of town to welcome in the New Year.
Our friends said we could enjoy a family skate on their dugout.

They forgot to mention it was the size of a football field.

And that I would need a defibrillator after skating to one end and back.

We were thrilled to have gotten our annual outdoor skating photo.
We have managed to take one every year for the past twelve.
...unfortunately The Agronomist forgot to shave before we went.
But as you know,  those family shots are hard to get, so we'll take them anyway we can.

While the guys played a pick up game of hockey.

I did a few Salchow jumps and crossed over into a Camel spin.

We then took a few more photo ops....

And while taking a shot of our amazing host and her daughter
I asked what the building was behind them?
She told me it was a heated shack for us to warm up in, and in it...
were some snacks and hot chocolate for all to enjoy.

I quietly thanked them and slowly and demurely made my way to the cabin.
I may, or may not have, done a few lutzes and triple toe loops along the way.

While we warmed up in the cabin,
the kids, continued into the evening, riding GT sleds behind a quad,
while also driving very cool retro snowmobile's.  For some reason I forgot to get a picture of them.
I think it was because I refused to leave the cabin and its wood stove for the remainder of the evening.

The revelry continued up at the house, and I was lured there, with delicious food and laugh out loud games.  Fun was had by all!

To cap it all off?
We enjoyed a display of fireworks down on the pond.
Really... we did.
There. were. fireworks.

You'll just have to trust me on that.

xoxo

PS
I don't know how to figure skate.
I just like writing all the cool technical figure skating terms.
The photo was just me trying to stop myself from falling....
which is, I suppose, a figure skating move.
Just not one you get any points for.

This post will be linking up with Darcy at LifewithMy3Boybarians for Sweet Shot Tuesday

  8. Oh what fun! We haven't gone skating on the lake since the kids were little. It never quite freezes over enough for safety with the chinook winds around here.

I'm impressed that you look so good while preventing yourself from falling. :v)

  9. Hee! Was gonna say that I wanted video of those lutzes and loops!

And that just isn't a world that I experience down here in California.

At least, MY part of California.

  14. I want to be invited to this party. The rural setting is exactly my type of place. Love the shots...the color of the sky...the motion...the landscape...even the guy w/ the weird beard...

Beautiful. Nicely composed images in less than warm conditions, I'm sure.

I used to enjoy skating, too. But ever since I got an artificial hip two years ago, I realized I would probably never again lace up a pair of skates. Sad, but reality.
