God Had Different Plans

I'm sick.
blah.
We were planning on taking the whole family to the city,
to watch Eldest play in a soccer tournament.

But I'm sick.
At first it just didn't seem fair.
As I was laying on the couch,
The Agronomist looked at me and said.
You aren't going tomorrow.

He offered to take all the girls and let me stay home.
But Middlest wasn't too keen on going in the first place.
She had some important birthday partying to do, that would run well into Friday.
So she was actually quite pleased her poor mum was not feeling well.
She's a terrible terrible child.

Once our decision was made it seemed that God had different plans,
ones that were more important than ours.
It just so happened that one of the girls on the team was unable to find a ride or place to stay.
Normally this is never an issue with Eldest's team.
But most families were using this tournament for a holiday because it was a long weekend.
And it looked like this girl would have to be left behind.

Sometimes things work out for the best.
I'm sick.
And at first it just didn't seem fair.
But because of that, a sweet girl gets to put all her hard practicing to good use and play.
This is one of only four tournaments the team attends.

Because we live so far north, there isn't a city league like the bigger cities have.
The only real games the girls get to play in, are these city tournaments.
And they do well.
And of course, even more important.... Middlest is happy.

So, I'm sick... so what.
Life is still fair.
I have my Middlest child to take care of me.
She will be very busy tomorrow, getting her poor mum water and Tylenol, and pillows, and blankets,
and more water, and maybe a few magazines.
She didn't think this through, did she?

So you see, life has a way of working out for the best.
Sick = Teammate plays = Middlest's birthday party =  equals nurse for mommy.
Life is good.
Even if I am sick.

Oh Middlest? Where are you?
Do you mind adding some ice cubes to my water.... it's a little warm.
Oh, and plumping my pillows, they're awfully flat.
And turning on the fan... it feels warm.
And.... and....

Did I mention?...She's a wonderful wonderful child.

Love ya like Penicillin,
